I want you to think about a passage of scripture that has gripped my heart for a little over a year now.
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I appointed you that you should go out and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.” John 15:16
This verse has some beautiful words from Jesus to His disciples. He first addresses an important thought. “I chose you.” It’s pretty cool that Jesus, the Son of God, chose his disciples and appointed them (commissioned, sent) to go out and bear fruit. It takes the burden off of them and put’s it on himself because it was his decision. Jesus takes it a step further in the next line saying “so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.”
SO THAT. I think those words are important. What if Jesus gave us this mission to make disciples of ALL nations, a HUGE mission, so that we’d have to go to him in prayer to accomplish anything.
If we are going to accomplish anything close to what Jesus has called us to we need to fall to our knees and pray. Pray for the work, pray for workers, pray for each other, and pray for Jesus to be lifted high.
We need you to join us in prayer to see all the nations reached with the good news of the great savior! Let’s ask in Jesus name!
We were discussing simple training techniques, how to help people learn and grasp concepts, when the idea was brought up. If something is important you should touch on it first, last, and often throughout. It brought up a passage that I haven’t been able to shake lately.
“One who watches the wind will not sow,
and the one who looks at the clouds will not reap.
Just as you don’t know the path of the wind,
or how bones develop in the womb of a pregnant woman,
so you don’t know the work of God who makes everything.
In the morning sow your seed,
and at evening do not let your hand rest,
because you don’t know which will succeed,
whether one or the other,
or if both of them will be equally good.”
Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (full chapter here)
Sowing the Gospel seed is not something we should be picky about. It is the single most important message we will ever have and it deserves to be first, last, and often. As we take this word to heart, I can’t wait to see what God does in Martinsburg and throughout Berkeley County (and wherever you are). As I write this post I know of at least a few people walking the streets, sowing the seed, and asking God to produce a harvest. If scripture teaches me anything, it’s what a few people under the influence of the Holy Spirit can accomplish!
God wants to use us to make disciples of the nations, starting right outside your front doorstep. Join in on the movement and see what God will do. We would LOVE to share the journey with you. Check out the quick video introduction below to see the gospel tool we are using on missionary journeys. There is nothing holding you back from sowing the best seed ever – first, last, and often!
Over and over again, God has affirmed the direction that He has called
us – to be full-time missionaries with New Life Global Ministries. Ryan is no longer on staff as one of the pastors at New Life Community Church, so we are both working full time in order to put together a team of monthly ministry partners.
We are asking God daily to lead us in this area as we depend on Him completely. Our days are filled with phone calls and appointments as well as fulfilling our responsibilities in building the organization, New Life Global Ministries. Expect to continue to hear from us in the weeks to come as we hope to share with you the chance we have to follow Jesus together. We believe that God wants to use us, together with you, to make disciples – Here, There and Everywhere!
